In observance of the Lunar New Year school is closed on February 12th. As you know, school is also closed for Mid-Winter Break the week of February 15th - 19th. With the new moon on Friday, we leave behind the Year of the Metal Rat and enter the year of the Metal Ox. The holiday, also known as the Spring Festival, will culminate on February 26th with the Lantern Festival. May we sweep away what we do not need from last year - which is a lot - and journey forward into this new year with a renewed sense of purpose and passion.

High School. There's been so much to do, a great deal of information to gather. There's getting things done and there's keeping it together while doing so. The process is different this year, there have been changes. Feel like the photo above? You are not alone, and who better to connect with than other parents and guardians at CS.

The CS Equity Team is hosting Career Day on Monday and we are so excited! This will be our first virtual Career Day, and thanks to parents, guardians, relatives and friends of CS, we have an illustrious and fascinating group of presenters.

We hope that you all had restful holidays and that you are safe and sound. We host ed our Open House 2.0 for 5th grade families on Thursday, January 14th, at 6 pm. If you were unable to attend, please take a look at our latest video posted in this news item (as well as on our Admissions page.)

We can't wait to celebrate Winter Wednesday with you on 12/23.

As a full moon hung in the sky, we completed the first marking period of the year - congratulations! Report Cards will be distributed on December 9th, after which we'll host virtual parent-teacher conferences. We already have more than 75% of families signed up; let's go for 100%.

This week we are focusing on gratitude, in our All School Meeting and throughout our community. We have navigated a great deal of ups and downs this year and we continue to be there for one another. Each and every one of you makes CS a special place.

As announced on Wednesday, NYC schools will suspend in-person learning until further notice. Students will engage in full-remote learning. Please be mindful of emails as we update cohorts on their schedules. For now, look skyward! For the next few days you can see Jupiter and Saturn to the left of the moon - an unusual planetary positioning. Let's take that as a good omen for days to come.
