Frost Valley Trip Letter 2018

Now that school has finally started, it is our pleasure to officially announce our annual sixth grade camping trip!   This trip will take us to Frost Valley YMCA camp located in the heart of the Catskill Mountain Preserve in Claryville, NY (80 miles north of NYC). Frost Valley is a modern facility in the midst of a vast nature preserve, complete with heated lodges, modern bathrooms, and a full service dining hall. It is perfectly situated for this overnight educational retreat.

The trip is organized and supervised by Computer School staff. Teams of CS Staff and Frost Valley naturalists will lead hands-on educational activities designed to take full advantage of the natural environment. Activities will include team-building, pond ecology, orienteering, and a birds of prey show.

We will leave for Frost Valley on Tuesday, October 9th at 8:30AM and will return on Wednesday, October 10th at about 3:00 PM, depending on traffic. Students and staff will travel to and from Frost Valley via coach buses.

Thanks to the support of the PA and the success of fundraising efforts, the cost of this trip to families is $170 per student, all inclusive. It is a standard policy at the Computer School that no student who is eligible to participate on the trip is to be excluded on the basis of financial need. A limited amount of scholarship funds will be made available for families who need assistance with paying for the trip. Contributions to the scholarship funds are always welcome. Attached, please find a supply list, as well as a Student Health Information form and DOE field trip. The DOE trip form ad the Student Health information form must be returned. Please note, the form only needs to be signed by a physician if your child carries medication.
